Mortgage-Rescue Program Benefits More Homeowners

The number of U.S. households benefiting from lower mortgage payments under a government rescue program rose 6% last month to one million, the Treasury Department reported Friday.

But many people continue to drop out of the Home Affordable Modification Program, or HAMP, as they miss payments or lenders find they don't qualify.
